If intelligence and consciousness are algorithmic illusions, then the arrival of generalized AI is a foregone conclusion.
The information processing capabilities of mechanical systems far exceed those of biological tissues. While biological tissues transmit information at 200Hz, even simple transistors operate at GHz frequencies. Additionally, while signal transmission in biological tissue moves at an average of 100m/s, mechanical systems can transmit at the speed of light. Furthermore, while biological information processing is limited to the size of the skull and spinal cord, mechanical systems have no size limitations. Despite these advantages, do we still believe humans are the superior structure, or are we baselessly optimistic that machines can never catch up to human cognition?
