Getting Closer to Nuclear Fusion: China's Artificial Sun Sets New World Record
Back in December of 2019, China announced it would soon begin operating its "artificial sun" - a device that is meant to replicate nuclear fusion, the same kind of reaction that powers the Sun. The device was due to be built by the end of 2019 and be operational in2020.

Getting Closer to Nuclear Fusion: China's Artificial Sun Sets New World Record
China's 'artificial sun' is five times hotter than the real thing
A nuclear fusion reactor in China has set a new record for sustained high temperatures after running five times hotter than the sun for more than 17 minutes, according to state media. The Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), known as an "artificial sun", reached temperatures of 70,000,000C during the experiments, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
