Cortical Lab has launched the world's first commercial biocomputer 'CL1', cultivating 800,000 human brain cells on a silicon chip capable of information processing and learning. Priced at $35,000 per unit (reduced to $20,000 when purchased in bundles of 30), they also offer cloud services for remote access on a weekly basis. CL1 reads and writes brain cell responses through real-time electrical signal loops and is expected to be used for drug testing, neurological disease modeling, and neuromorphic computing. As specialized research equipment requiring ethical approval and cell culture facilities, it can maintain cells for up to 6 months and consumes less energy than data centers
