Customer Service Notion
The Counting House pattern
Steve Yegge proposes using inexpensive models for high-volume customer service through intent-specific policies and evaluations. Each stateless invocation handles one case, while an orchestrator controls writes to systems of record. A policy table specifies the model, tools, approval chain, and autonomy tier for each intent. Models advance through off, shadow, assist, contain, and transact only as evaluations justify greater autonomy; human-scored gold sets also calibrate the model judge.
