Entropic Index

The parameter controls how far the entropy departs from Shannon/Boltzmann–Gibbs entropy, i.e., how non-additive / non-extensive the system is. As moves away from 1, you move farther from the classical assumption that entropy simply adds. In practice, acts as a knob that determines how strongly the distribution’s tails, correlations, and non-extensivity are reflected.
