The FIDO Alliance is a consortium established in July 2012 to set FIDO technical standards, which is a secure authentication method that replaces passwords in online environments.

While three standards coexist - UAF (Universal Authentication Framework), U2F (Universal 2nd Factor), and FIDO2 - FIDO2 is becoming the primary standard.
