'Mass human experiment': Inside Japan's futuristic $15 billion smart city
Toyota announced its Woven City project in 2020. In 2021, it broke ground on construction at a site close to the foot of Japan's Mount Fuji. Three years later, Woven City says Phase 1 of the development will be complete by the end of the year and trials will start in 2025.

Japanese auto giant Toyota is working on a new-age hydrogen vehicle. When the words Toyota and Hydrogen are in the same sentence, the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai comes to mind. Still, the Mirai is a hydrogen-electric car or FCEV (fuel-cell electric vehicle). It uses hydrogen fuel to convert electricity and power an onboard electric motor.
