You can designate a preferred mailing address, use express shipping, and track delivery of your DS-2019.

Welcome to the EAP reciprocity exchange program at UCR. We have issued your DS-2019 and it is now ready for mailing. I have attached an electronic draft of your DS-2019 for your review (no signature). Please review it and let me know if you find any errors.
If everything looks good to you, please let me know and I will print it out and sign the DS-2019. You are required to have a DS-2019 with an original wet signature when you go to the embassy or consulate to apply for your J visa. Please follow the attached EShip instructions to have your DS-2019 mailed to you.
Once you receive your DS-2019, please follow the steps outlined in this email.
To Do Checklist
To obtain your J-1 entry visa, sign page one and take form DS-2019, your passport and your receipt for the payment of the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor System) fee to the nearest United States consulate or embassy in your home country. You will also need to provide any additional information that is requested. You can get detailed information about specific requirements by visiting the website of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you plan to apply https://www.usembassy.gov/ ).
Pay the SEVIS Fee before visiting the Consulate. You can find information and pay for the fee via this link: https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/index.html#.
You will need your passport, your DS-2019, your admissions letter and your financial documentation when you enter the United States at the port of entry. You should also take all this information with you when you go to apply for a visa. Please remember to carry these documents with you when you get on the airplane (do not leave them in your checked baggage). More information about required documentation can be found on the website of the embassy/consulate where you will apply.
You can enter the United States in the 30-day period before your DS-2019 begins. Please do not try to enter any earlier. You DS-2019 will start on 09/19/2022).
Please not that you will be required to enroll in full time (at least 12 units) of in-person courses as a condition of your J-1 status. One online course can count towards your full-time enrollment of 12 units. Most classes will be held in person at UCR for the Fall 2022 quarter.
As a J student, you will be automatically enrolled in UCR’s Health Insurance, and your coverage will begin on 09/12/2022.

Avoid using sites like Facebook or Craigslist to search for and secure off campus housing. Unfortunately, there is a lot of fraud and rental scams on these sites.
Housing contracts are legally binding in the United States. Please make sure you review and understand the terms of your lease before signing.
If you are living in campus housing, you can request to move in early, on September 12. Send your request to housinginfo@ucr.edu. Additional fees may apply.

The University of California, Riverside is pleased to make available Fedex, UPS, and DHL Express mailing
of immigration documents (I-20 or DS-2019).
Requesting your immigration documents through express mail is at your expense and your credit card
will be charged upon requesting the service. The Fedex, UPS, and DHL Express mailing must be paid by
credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover cards only).
To request express mailing of your documents, go to the following secure website:

You will need to create your own account username and password. Click the “Student Sign-Up” under
the For Student/Scholars section.
To request shipment of your documents, please select the University of California, Riverside as the
University and International Affairs Office as the Sender. You will need your UCR Student Identification
(SID) number, mailing address, email address, phone number and credit card information.
If you have questions about how to use this service, please email eshipglobal.com or call the 1-800
number.
Once you have processed the shipping information, our office will be able to mail your I-20 using the
shipment information you created.
