It can be considered similar to Greek or Norse mythology of the Manchu people, featuring various deities who are all goddesses. A distinctive characteristic is the clear conflict between good and evil, a theme shared with stories passed down across the broader Northeast Asian region.
In Manchu language, it means "Story of the Gods" and is translated into Chinese as "Battle of the Heavenly Palace" (天宮大戰). This is a creation myth of the Manchu people that features conflicts and wars between hundreds of gods. The high priest of the Manchu people, Shaman Mafa (saman mafa), plays a role in spreading the teachings of ancestor gods within the clan. Similar records exist, such as the Donghai Chenyuan Lu, believed to be from the Jurchen people during the Ming Dynasty, and Wubusifan Mama compiled by Fu Yukuang. Among these, the creation myth Weceku Ulabun from the Heilongjiang region provides the most complete description of the gods.
This mythology has been modernized and adapted as the worldview in the popular Korean webtoon "Tiger Hyungnim," where it is combined with fantasy storytelling elements.
