Enshittification

A neologism coined by Cory Doctorow that refers to the recurring pattern where online platforms gradually degrade their once "good" user experience and transform into structures that exploit value over time. Initially, they provide high-quality services to attract users, but then progressively shift value from users to suppliers to shareholders, ultimately sacrificing user experience to focus solely on maximizing profits
