Aging is caused not by damage or wear and tear, but by the dysregulation of processes that are beneficial early in life. As organisms age, certain biological functions (like cell growth or immune responses) continue to operate excessively or inappropriately, leading to age-related diseases and decline. Instead of slowing down, these processes become hyperactive and contribute to aging, shifting the focus of interventions from repairing damage to modulating these hyperfunctions.
The core of hyperfunction theory is that aging occurs as physiological functions continue to operate excessively even after the body has completed its growth. In other words, although the body no longer needs to grow, mechanisms related to growth remain active, leading to overaction.
Osteoclast
When osteoclast activity becomes excessive or imbalanced, bone resorption becomes overly activated, leading to age-related diseases like osteoporosis (IGF).
Workout is healthy since if there is extra energy, they seem to use it and unfortunately this is bad because of Inflammation and your glands produce hormones you do not need like Cortisol. If activity is missing it still uses almost the identical amount of energy, just on stupid stuff. Therefore, working out is not a magic bullet, but it seems to restore an internal physical balance that seriously affects your body. And this is also why regular exercise is so incredibly healthy. You will probably not lose nearly as much bat by working out as you hoped, but you will give your body balance and making you more resilient and prevent or delay many of the diseases that will make your life miserable so you can enjoy a higher quality of life, for much longer.
Due to human design that maximizes energy conservation, overeating leads to weight gain because the body doesn't know how to dispose of excess energy, leading to hyperfunction and aging. While current GLP-1 based medications work by controlling appetite and preventing overeating to address hyperfunction, developing methods that directly reduce hyperfunction or increase energy expenditure remains a challenge.
