IPv4 Notion
Remaining IPv4 addresses: Approximately 4.6M addresses are available, with the majority distributed between APNIC (3.6M) and AFRINIC (990k). IPv6 has low address efficiency (intentionally designed inefficiency) with only 34% being advertised in actual routing tables.
Coexistence of NAT and IPv6: Many service providers still maintain IPv4-based services using NAT instead of transitioning to IPv6. The IPv4 address shortage and NAT usage have led to the internet becoming fixed in a client/server-centric model, weakening creative and distributed models.
