To do something new rather than making slight variations to others through reasoning, like discovering something non-intuitive like quantum mechanics, it is necessary to understand and approach from the fundamentals. A physical approach that can build something completely new is needed. It is like the difference between a chef and a cook or like seeing Elon Musk and a deer; Empathy is not.
