Evolution
The modern human brain has changed very little from the brain adapted to the Pleistocene environment, meaning that even if certain behaviors are common in society, evolved behaviors do not necessarily represent correct behaviors or those optimized for the current era.
Thoughts, desires, or visions of fundamental goals that cannot be explained by evolutionary theory are not truly fundamental, and if you believe they are, you're deceiving yourself. You simply want more attention, to appear more attractive, to be more popular, or to survive. Anything beyond that is an illusion, and when you truly accept this, you can more accurately understand the behavior of others and yourself.
