Minkowski spacetime is a mathematical model that describes spacetime on a coordinate plane, and understanding it is essential for a complete grasp of relativity theory. In this space, conventional 3-dimensional space and 1-dimensional time combine to represent a 4-dimensional manifold of spacetime from a geometrically unified perspective. For example, in relativity theory, an event represents a single point in Minkowski spacetime. In the hyperspace of the present, nothing can affect a particle (only that particle's point exists, and each present event is independent in its timeframe).
