친절함에 대한 판단은 단기적인 판단이고 옳음에 대한 판단은 장기적인 판단이다
다시말해 친절함에 대한 판단은 무의식(감정)적 판단이고 옳음에 대한 판단은 의식적(이성) 판단이다
하지만 무의식과 의식의 경계가 유동적이고 명확하지 않듯 친절함과 옳음의 경계도 명확하지 않다

학연지연이 나쁘다고 생각되는 것처럼 인간 본성을 거스르지만 사회적으로 이롭다고 판단된 규칙은 그 교육을 받은 시대의 사람들의 감정적 반응을 형성한다
학연지연에 대한 반응이 나쁜 것은 사람들이 정에 이끌렸을 때에 장기적인 일을 망치게 되는 경우가 많아서였고, 마찬가지로 동성애에 대한 후회들이 사회에 쌓이면 좀더 정교해진 규칙이 그에 대한 합당한 인지 감정 반응을 사회에 교육함에 따라 정서가 동기화될 것이다
이런 사회적 합의에 따른 선택은 술과 마약처럼 장점과 단점이 극명하게 큰 값을 가지고 나뉘어 비교하기 어려운 재화나 서비스에서는 굉장히 조심스럽게 결정될 필요가 있다

The right of a people to self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law, binding, as such, on the United Nations as authoritative interpretation of the Charter's norms. It states that peoples, based on respect for the principle of equal rights and fair equality of opportunity, have the right to freely choose their sovereignty and international political status with no interference.

Everyone Has the Right: Eleanor Roosevelt and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
In 1946, Eleanor Roosevelt became chairperson of the newly formed UN Commission on Human Rights, taking a leading role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "We won the war," she said. "Now we need to work to win the peace."
It took seven drafts over two and half years, but when the General Assembly voted on the declaration, not a single nation opposed it. It has since been translated into 529 languages.
