While the achievements of scientific methodology in the empiricist tradition are certainly tremendous, they also represent limitations of modern academia
- The structural limitation of modern academia based on verification is that it inevitably underestimates the influence of hypotheses or discussions that are impossible or difficult to verify. This is because starting with the assumption of non-verifiability is seen as a lack of experimental design capability. For example, evolutionary psychology faces such criticism.
- Since modern science also develops for profit, it doesn't delve into areas that have no benefit but carry enormous risks (ethical or intellectual). For example, scholars don't deeply investigate humanity itself
Therefore, from an individual's perspective, even though scientific methodology may be perfect, the humans conducting science are not perfect. So we need an attitude of critically accepting opinions rather than relying on authority merely for efficiency (Critical Thinking)

Don’t do art to change the world
Johnnie Walker. The Red is shit. The Black is less shit. The Blue is good. But fewer people buy the Blue because it’s expensive. And at the end of the day, most people just want to get drunk. For most of your career, your books have been Blue. They’re good, complex. But they’re not popular because most people want something easy. Now, for the first time, you’ve written a Red book. It’s simple, prurient… it’s not great literature, but it satisfies an urge. And that’s valuable. What I’m trying to illustrate is that… just because you do Red doesn’t mean you can’t also do Blue. You can do it all. - American Fiction, 2023
