I believe an artist needs to maintain a balance between showing their authentic self while simultaneously presenting something new. If they only stick to what's familiar, they can't truly be an artist, but if they only pursue novelty, they lose their distinctive character.
Nevertheless, the essence of being an artist should be unwavering investment in what they believe in. An artist's role is to distinguish new aesthetics at a low resolution that the public cannot see, and to provide a differentiated perspective. If there is no resolution to discern an artist's attempt and the public's cultural 안목 is lacking, they tend to interpret something new as something that already existed or criticize it. This is a natural phenomenon, but rather than trying to criticize what you don't understand, reflect on whether it might be a lack of your own discernment.
