Invisible Power that Greatly Influences Society
Position, Information, Social Capital, and alternatives are factors of power. The history of power begins with gaining loyalty in exchange for hosting feasts for those who cannot find food.
Power belongs to those who will do anything for it. Rulers are those who cannot be forgiven, and people don't want their regret or reflection, but their downfall. Then, looking at causality inversely, are selfish people more likely to gain power? Though difficult to prove experimentally, a notably higher proportion of psychopaths is observed among those in power.
Experiencing power is a major cause of brain changes. It has been experimentally proven that merely having or imagining power diminishes empathy. Additionally, Perspective Taking decreases while Interpersonal dynamic sensitivity increases. Power enables confidence and selfish behavior, reducing the need to be cautious or follow rules, thus eliminating energy waste. Before gaining power, people tend to treat others equally, but once power is acquired, the ability to read relationships and influence increases. As power grows, unethical and immoral behaviors become more acceptable due to a sense of entitlement. The more one believes they have power, the easier it becomes to engage in misconduct. Self-confidence also increases, leading to a more Proactive approach. To avoid corruption, one must consciously understand brain functions or cognitively reject the sense of privilege. Socially, a society with less inequality is required. To test character, give power. No power remains uncorrupted. A counterbalance equal to the power held is necessary.
