Meeting End Time is Important

Avoid having meetings with too many participants and too frequently. It's okay to leave in the middle if you have nothing to contribute. The real rudeness is wasting other people's time.
  • Start with (shared) casual conversation to create a positive atmosphere
  • Need opening agenda and closing remarks
  • Share meeting minutes before and after
  • Share understanding between what I know and what you know
  • Keep discussions short and focused
Try not to get caught up in or mention unimportant details (easy conversations can be had after the meeting)
Prevent misunderstandings by preparing briefing materials in advance for others to review
There are times when laptops are necessary and times when they just cause distractions
Beyond skills and experience, it's about connecting with people - approaching meetings with sincerity leads to friendships

Rules

  • All meetings, whether brainstorming or seminars, need a leader and clear purpose and structure
  • Only hold meetings with essential participants and keep attendance under 8 people
  • Strictly adhere to time constraints and ensure everyone is fully present in the meeting
